Based on the comic book of the same name by Paco Roca (Spanish National Comic Award 2008), ARRUGAS is a 2D animated feature film for adult audiences. Arrugas (Wrinkles) narrates the friendship between Emilio and Miguel, two elderly gentlemen interned in a nursing home. Emilio, who has just arrived to the home with incipient Alzheimer’s disease, is aided by Miguel and other residents to avoid being sent to the upper floor, the feared destination of “the assisted”, which is how they refer to the most needy and terminally ill at the home. Their mad plan injects a dose of comedy and tenderness to the humdrum day-to-day life of the nursing home because, while the lives of many there are shut down forever, theirs has just begun.
